Startup Trek spent a week in Boulder, Colorado recently, getting to know some of the local entrepreneurs.
We were fortunate to kick things off by interviewing Foundry Group venture capitalist Brad Feld, Managing Director at Foundry Group‘s offices in Downtown Boulder, CO. Part 1 of our interview with Brad is a six minute session, covering Brad’s prolific career from his M.I.T. days to starting to make Angel investments, well before Foundry Group and TechStars.
Part 2 covers how Brad built his investing career, entered the venture capital business, and created Foundry Group with his partners. Part III describes in some detail the Foundry Group’s “investing theme” investment philosophies, practices, and how they look at deals. In Part IV, Brad talks about how the Boulder, Boston, and Seattle TechStars programs work, and shares some advice for budding entrepreneurs. We learned quite a bit about TechStars, which Brad and his Boulder partner on that activity, David Cohen lead.
Brad introduced us to entrepreneurs around the Boulder area (those interviews will appear on this site shortly). Thanks, Brad — we appreciate all the introductions! Videos from those interviews will be appearing soon.
