Steve Bell founds startup Angel and Venture Capital backed internet company: Kinesis, Inc.

From this post forward, I will continue to interview and blog about technology startups; but StartupTrek.net now becomes the official “blog voice” for Kinesis, Inc — the disruptive internet firm that I’ve been putting together since June.

Here’s the story on it — wish us luck…

Investor Database Submission: Kinesis, Inc.

A Delaware Corporation was formed Oct 12, 2011: Kinesis, Inc.

Executive Summary:

Kinesis, Inc. was formed to bring the full power of the internet to small and medium scale businesses worldwide.

Today, in late 2011, the internet is serving large enterprises, those with typically over 500 employees, rather well.  But… smaller companies are having difficulty leveraging the power of the internet to bring in new customers (sales). Kinesis has architected, tested, and is now deploying a powerful HTML5 network of machines, called “SIMA’s” (Smart Internet Marketing Agents) to solve this problem.  The company’s mission is  “To bring new customers (money) to small and medium scale businesses in North America, Western Europe, Asia, and the developing countries… by more efficiently delivering the power of the internet.”.

Kinesis’ approach to solving this problem is radically different than what has been done before.  The Company is applying for patents on it’s core SIMA, HTML5-based customer acquisition technology.

Kinesis is led by Steve W. Bell, serial entrepreneur, who holds a Master’s Degree in MS CS/EE from U.C. Berkeley (1979).  He spent the first 8 years of his career at Bell Telephone Laboratories in Holmdel, NJ where he received patents for his work in the field of Telecommunications and Integrated Circuit Design.  He spent 15 years in the field of Network Switching and Routing, and was the founder of Bell Technology Group Inc. (BTGI), one of Silicon Valley’s most successful Board-level technical and business strategy, boutique consultancies.<br>

In 1997, Bell founded the Silicon Valley Networking Lab (SVNL) which he sold to HP-Agilent in 2000 (SVNL was Agilent’s first acquistion, 4 days after HP split into HP-Agilent); Bell was the founding CEO and the sole Angel investor in the operation, which certified $150M of Wi-Fi products.  SVNL played a key role in commercializing Wi-Fi, certifying the first 7,000 Wi-Fi products over 7 years at labs in San Jose, London, and Tokyo.   In 2002, after integrating SVNL into HP and opening labs in Europe and Asia, he began studying and experimenting with internet technologies.

In Jan 2010 Bell founded Redmond Internet Marketing, Inc. in Redmond, WA.  “What I learned was that the whole field of internet marketing is upside down – it’s the wrong approach to solve the problem of bringing the power of the web to smaller and medium scale businesses”, Bell says.  “Kinesis is going after this problem with a radical, disruptive technological approach which, like Salesforce.com’s “Software Free” ethos, is “Technology Free” – web technology, that is, from the perspective of the customer.

In forming Kinesis, Bell is assisted by a cadre of seasoned Silicon Valley veterans from leading web firms who round out the management team, and a capable Board of Advisers who play a hands-on role.  Kinesis is currently raising a $1M Angel round under a convertible note, and will immediately commence raising a $10M “A” round of venture capital.  According to Bell, “this venture has immense potential, and we owe it to all the frustrated small businesses out there to solve this problem – bringing the power of the web within their reach, to help them grow their businesses.  That’s a very rewarding task to take on”.

Gold symbolized quality, serves as “the fourth currency” worldwide, and is created when energy is released.

Here are some interesting facts about Gold:

Question: What’s with the name, Kinesis?

A Kinesis, in the hard sciences, is non-directional motion (Kinetic energy) in response to a stimulus.
